Photos and studies for reference. Generally I
prefer to work from photos to avoid the hassle of hours of
sitting for the subject. I prefer to use my own photos but
can work from your photos as long as they're not protected
by copyrights and are sufficient for reference purposes.
A meeting will be scheduled for a time and place where I
may take photos and make study sketches if necessary. Once
you agree on a general composition, the painting or drawing
process can begin. If you wish, I can provide images of the
painting or drawing in it's current state via email so you
may provide input on the direction of the painting or
anything you wish to have modified.
During the course of the painting, I may require
additional photos and studies. If that happens, I will
contact you to arrange a time to gather further study
references. For portraits in oil, varnish can be applied for
no extra fee* after 6 months** to give the painting a deeper
and richer surface quality. Not only will it make the
painting look better, it will also protect the surface of
the painting to add years of life to your investment.
Decisions on location and dates for portrait sittings are
reached by mutual agreement, based on the artist and
sitter's schedules. The artist chooses the clothing and
background, after consultation with the sitter. Should the
artist be required to travel, costs for transportation and
lodging are the responsibility of the patron. Framing costs
are also to be paid by the buyer.
If you have any questions or if you would like a quote
for a portrait, please feel free to
